Glass

2005 was my first experience blowing glass.  I had done it sporadically throughout the first  6 years until I was able to build my own glass blowing studio. In 2011, I spent my first winter blowing glass in my backyard studio.   Works include tumblers, paperweights, vases, bowls, as well as pendant lampshades and other items.  This marked the beginning of a long journey with glass and the beginning of multimedia works.

The private glass studio is located on my farm in an 1880’s barn that used to house sheep.

Along with blowing glass, I casts solid forms, and spin casts, which basically comes down to a process similar to throwing molten glass on the pottery wheel.  Using Kevlar gloves, molten glass is poured into a bowl that is spinning, using physics to assist in the formation of a form.

Many experimental and large scale projects are already planned for the glass studio.
